Local Tories choose new chairman
Local Conservatives have chosen a woman to be their new chairman for the first time.
Tracy Thomson, who lives at Greenigoe in Orphir, was chosen by members on Tuesday. She was previously the Election Agent for the Party at last year's General Election.
Speaking after her election, Tracy said: “I am delighted, and deeply honoured, to have been chosen to serve as chairman.
"I will be working hard to continue the growth of the Conservative Association in Orkney and ensure we build on the success the Party is enjoying across the UK at the moment.”
Orkney Conservative president, Morgan Harcus, added: “We are all delighted that Tracy has been elected as chairman. Her election is a fitting reward for all the hard work she has put in previously as Election Agent.”
